These online conferences are turning out to be one of my favorite things in 2020. So many opportunities to see talks that I would not have been able to attend in person!

Shout out to STÖK for an amazing video covering all of our chances to get our CPE’s in! Hopefully I’m not the only one struggling.

My Picks

I went through the presentations and picked the ones I am looking forward to.

HacktivityCon

July 31 - August 1, 2020

July 31st Picks
  • Women in Security Career Panel, 9:05-9:40
  • Burnout, Chloé Messdaghi 12:05-12:25
August 1st Picks
  • Keynote: Georgia Weidman, 9:11-9:50
  • How I Got from 0 to MVH, STÖK 10:20

I encourage everybody to head on over to HackerOne’s HacktivityCon site and check the bios and talk summaries. I have seen people like Georgia and STÖK talk before, but there’s some new faces and I can’t wait to hear what they have to share!

DEF CON - Safe Mode

August 6th - August 9th, 2020

DEF CON has a TON of talks coming from 31 different villages. They also have LABS! AND a full 4 days of ‘mainstage’ talks that can be found here.

Villages of Interest
Ham Radio Village

So, I think I’m going to put my money where my mouth is and finally fail my first Ham Radio Exam. I have not been studying but FUGG it, gotta take a chance!

Packet Hacking Village

Ever since I took SANS SEC503 in February (which seems like 10 years ago now) I’ve been diving into one of my weaker areas of knowledge - NETWORKING. 503 helped me understand many of the underlying protocols that I previously looked at as black magic. I am still just a baby in this world though, so I hope to be in way over my head with some of these talks!

Blue Team Village

Red Team presentations are flashy and cool, but I spend most of my time living on the Blue Team side. I am excited to see what I can take home from these talks.

SAFE MODE Talks I am looking forward too
