These online conferences are turning out to be one of my favorite things in 2020. So many opportunities to see talks that I would not have been able to attend in person!
I went through the presentations and picked the ones I am looking forward to.
July 31 - August 1, 2020
July 31st Picks
- Women in Security Career Panel, 9:05-9:40
- Burnout, Chloé Messdaghi 12:05-12:25
August 1st Picks
- Keynote: Georgia Weidman, 9:11-9:50
- How I Got from 0 to MVH, STÖK 10:20
I encourage everybody to head on over to HackerOne’s HacktivityCon site and check the bios and talk summaries. I have seen people like Georgia and STÖK talk before, but there’s some new faces and I can’t wait to hear what they have to share!

Villages of Interest
So, I think I’m going to put my money where my mouth is and finally fail my first Ham Radio Exam. I have not been studying but FUGG it, gotta take a chance!
Ever since I took SANS SEC503 in February (which seems like 10 years ago now) I’ve been diving into one of my weaker areas of knowledge - NETWORKING. 503 helped me understand many of the underlying protocols that I previously looked at as black magic. I am still just a baby in this world though, so I hope to be in way over my head with some of these talks!
Red Team presentations are flashy and cool, but I spend most of my time living on the Blue Team side. I am excited to see what I can take home from these talks.
SAFE MODE Talks I am looking forward too
- Hacking Traffic Lights
- Office Drama on MacOS
- Reverse Engineering the Tesla Battery Management System for Moar Powerrr!
- Practical VoIP/UC Hacking Using Mr.SIP: SIP-Based Audit & Attack Tool
